AWAKE: Spring Pop Up Dinner by Pinch and Dash

Our 2nd Pop Up! Yay! What a find. I’m on a roll aren’t I? As mentioned in my previous post, I absolutely love the idea of Pop Up Restaurants especially when it’s not seen or heard of before, not mainstream, not known. This pop up was specially dear to my heart because it was a Vegan Sharing Dinner. Only 10 people were being catered for so it would be intimate and close and that was really evident when we showed up to the venue.

Casablanca restaurant in Noksapyeong/Hae Bang Chon area was the venue, were they happily shared their premises for this pop up by Pinch and Dash was small and quaint, hosted by Jessica and Danielle. The welcome was so warm and filled with smiles, soft, close and very pretty.

Their theme was:

Time to come out of hibernation, frolic in the cherry blossoms and let the afternoon sun warm your cheeks. spring is in full bloom and our spirits are awakened. so join us around the table as we toast to our favorite season… and be the first to have a taste of our spring issue – AWAKE.

Casablanca has been kind enough to lend us their space for our pop up dinner and you are invited. The market-inspired menu will, of course, be vegan and gluten-free with a focus on seasonal and local produce.

We’ll be serving…

coconut date energy bites
strawberry basil bellini
maple glazed asparagus with citrus marmalade
wild greens in a soy miso vinaigrette
hand cut yam fries with chimichurri
olive tapenade and green tea nut crackers
french lentils with fennel
poached pears with salted chocolate drizzle.

Reserve your seat at the table and includes your very own copy of the spring issue, hot off the press. There are only ten seats available so don’t miss out!

Please send us a message to rsvp and we will respond. We look forward to sharing with you!

Beautifully decorated and placed table setting along with a copy of the menu and their lastest cookzine – AWAKE.

So earthy, organic and simple.

Their 2 other cookzines were also made available

We started off with Strawberry Basil Bellinis which we so fresh and gorgeous, served in recycle bottles

Two hot cooks in the Kitchen – really, it was very hot when time came to turn on the stove and play with fire

coconut date energy bites
strawberry basil bellini
maple glazed asparagus with citrus marmalade
wild greens in a soy miso vinaigrette
hand cut yam fries with chimichurri
olive tapenade and green tea nut crackers
french lentils with fennel
poached pears with salted chocolate drizzle

Coconut Energy Balls – crunchy, sweet, sticky and chewy, gave us a beautiful starter to our tastebuds and a boost of energy. I’m sure that was what it was, for only 10 of us, it soon became very noisy and buzzy in there!

We had beautiful crunchy asparagus with citrus sauce that we so delicate and precious. I absolutely love asparagus!

Can I have the last one? Quick, distract them with booze!!

Wild Greens with Soy Miso Vinaigrette, so fresh and crunchy, tangy and salty

To die for Olive Tapenade to accompany…

…these little beauties. Oh My Goodness, seriously, I mean seriously delicious beautiful yummy yummy yummy Green Tea Nut Crackers. Can I say.. please, let me say, DELICIOUS!!!

Oh good grief! Pity there were gone in a wink of an eye… which is always good for the cooks!

Our lovely hostess bring out some deliciousness in a bowl – Chimichurri, giving it a stir and shake before we dipped into them

To accompany the freshly fried yam fries. Did I? Yes I did have more tapenade with the fries! 😉 Ultra delicious. What more can you ask for? Seriously?

French Lentils with Fennel – My Favourite, well next to those heavenly Green Tea Nut Crackers, I think I could eat those 2 for the rest of my life… They were beautifully seasoned with lemon and mustard, 4 spoonfuls for me thank you very much. I love French lentils anyway, those are like my vegan caviar!

Oh My Goodness, heck, this is all about Goodness isn’t it? Excuse the pun. We really enjoyed ourselves, the atmosphere, the energy in the room, the people we spoke to and met. The food presented to us was so fresh and delicious, clean and amazing. What you can do with local produce and create raw vegan goodness especially when being vegan or a vege in this country is somewhat challenging. All the dishes presented to us were in the cookzine so we could easily read what was in it and recreate them. I loved them all and will make them all again. Each had their own distinctive tastes and all really complimented each other.

Pinch and Dash then made their way out of the sweltering kitchen to thank us and I’m sure after we all left, fall flat on the floor. Those two really busted their guts preparing delicious fresh food for us and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Good conversation, new aquaintences, new finds and knowledge of our new home, we even walked away with a potted succulent each. Light soon turned into darkness, with bellies full and a slightly dizzy head – only slightly – we left with a big smile, reminiscing the meal and conversations through the rest of the night until we closed our eyes. What a wonderful time we had and a great experience to be remembered always.

Thanks to Pinch and Dash! 🙂 We hope for more to come and wonderful inspiring meals to tickle and tempt the tastebuds.
